{"id":2566,"date":"2023-11-30T01:08:51","date_gmt":"2023-11-30T01:08:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=2566"},"modified":"2023-11-30T01:08:51","modified_gmt":"2023-11-30T01:08:51","slug":"mt-malcolm-expands-footprint-at-lake-johnston-one-of-was-hottest-lithium-addresses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=2566","title":{"rendered":"Mt Malcolm expands footprint at Lake Johnston, one of WA\u2019s hottest lithium addresses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mt Malcolm Mines has acquired a 75km2 exploration licence to expand its footprint at Lake Johnston lithium project in WA<br \/>\nLake Johnston greenstone belt is an emerging lithium province<br \/>\nCompany also applied for another 3 licences which would take footprint to 200km2<br \/>\nFirm commitments for $1.1m raised via a placement to fund exploration <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report:<\/em> Mt Malcom Mines is building its large lithium footprint at Lake Johnston where recent exploration success by <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/tg-metals-tg6\/\"><strong>TG Metals (ASX: TG6)<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0 has sparked a pegging rush.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The TG6 share price has <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/eye-on-lithium-the-goat-cashes-in-on-lake-johnston-lithium-splash\/\">soared from 11c to 91c<\/a> in the space of a month after reporting grades of up to 2.28% Li2O from the first holes drilled into the Burmeister lithium soil anomaly.<\/p>\n<p>TG6 is not the only Lake Johnston explorer enjoying success, with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/astockhead.com.au\/company\/charger-metals-chr\/\">Charger Metals (ASX: CHR)<\/a>\u00a0moving higher after inking a lucrative farm-in agreement with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/rio-tinto-rio\/\">Rio Tinto\u2019s (ASX: RIO)<\/a>\u00a0exploration arm.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/mt-malcolm-mines-m2m\/\"><strong>Mt Malcolm Mines<\/strong><strong>\u2019<\/strong><strong> (ASX:M2M)<\/strong><\/a> project is 10km west of CHR\u2019s Lithium Caesium Tantalum (LCT) pegmatite prospects at Mt Day, 25km southwest of the Chatterly LCT pegmatites, and 20km north west of the Pagrus pegmatite prospects.<\/p>\n<p>The company has now look to bolster its position in the red hot region, making three applications for Els 63\/2403, 63\/2404 and 63\/2405 at Lake Johnston.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Potential 200km2 exploration footprint<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If granted, the additional EL applications in the belt expand potential exploration footprint to 200km2.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an exciting time for the company as we merge into other commodities,\u201d M2M MD Trevor Dixon said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLake Johnston is developing as an emerging lithium region with the recent <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/tg-metals-tg6\/\"><strong>TG Metals <\/strong><strong>(ASX:TG6)<\/strong><\/a> spodumene discoveries in recent times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe find ourselves in good company with the recent Rio Tinto and Charger Farm-in agreement reaffirming the potential prospectivity of Lake Johnston and its potential to host large scale lithium deposits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Lake Johnston lithium project and surrounding lithium explorers and key prospects. Pic: M2M<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>$1.1m funding secured with board support<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>M2M has also advised it\u2019s raising $1.1m via a placement at 2.5 cents per share to accelerate its lithium and multi-element exploration activities.<\/p>\n<p>The funds will be used for:<\/p>\n<p>Exploration and evaluation activities at the company\u2019s new and existing projects;<br \/>\nHigh impact drilling programs to follow-up and expand known pegmatite occurrences at the Lake Johnston project;<br \/>\nResource definition drilling at the Golden Crown prospect within the Malcolm project, and;<br \/>\nFor general working capital purposes.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s chairman has also committed to subscribe for a total of $50,000 in the placement, subject to shareholder approval.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What\u2019s next?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The company intends to carry out several staged exploration programs targeting lithium and rare earth mineralisation, including site visits to confirm pegmatitic drill spoil in the Goldfields and Bullion RAB drilling with geological mapping and rock chip sampling of outcropping pegmatite intrusions.<\/p>\n<p>Soil geochemical sampling will be conducted over the areas that have the potential for lithium mineralisation, with follow up reverse circulation drilling planned over the area where a cluster of pegmatites were previously encountered in historical drilling and areas returning positive soil geochemical results.<\/p>\n<p>A POW has been lodged with the with Department of Mines Industry Regulation and Safety and is anticipated to be granted later this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This article was developed in collaboration with Mt Malcolm Mines, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
