In fact just one IPO \u2014 Lithium Royalty Corp (TSX:LIRC) \u2014 has made it to the main boards of the TSX.\u00a0 Josh Chiat looks at four recent deals from TSX-listed miners<\/a> trying to add scale and weight.<\/p>\n

WHAT GOT YOU TALKING<\/h2>\n

Enthusiasm for the mining sector has been waning for much of 2023, with falling commodity prices \u2014 outside iron ore, gold and uranium \u2014 placing a question mark over growth plans across the sector. But those in the know say investments in new production will continue ahead of massive shortfalls of the lithium needed to meet EV sales targets later in the decade.
\nContractors are among the cohort trying to capture and hold some of that value,<\/a> with one giving an indication of the wall in capital to be spent on Australian mines in the coming years.<\/p>\n

Dimerix shares rose after Chinese authorities approved an investigational new drug (IND) application<\/a> to commence recruitment for its ACTION3 Phase 3 study of DMX-200, for focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) kidney disease.<\/p>\n

Yesterday\u2019s Small Caps highlights:<\/p>\n

It was Euro Manganese (ASX:EMN)<\/strong><\/a> all the way on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s Master of Anything Manganesian<\/a>, Dr Robert Badman:<\/p>\n

This $38m market capped Canadian manganese stock hasn\u2019t had the best time of things since we mentioned it in this column in mid-August \u2026 although we\u2019re pretty sure that\u2019s not our fault.<\/p>\n

Back then, you see, it was a $52m<\/em> market capper.<\/p>\n

But\u2026 its fortunes now look to be making a u-turn in the right direction, with the stock bursting up +45% and making news just about everywhere on the back of a significant project financing deal with $8.2 billion global asset management firm Orion Resource Partners.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a US$100m non-dilutive funding package to advance the development of the Chvaletice manganese project in the Czech Republic \u2013 the company\u2019s primary focus.<\/p>\n

Rob says EMN is battery materials focused, with manganese a lesser-known (than lithium and nickel anyway) raw material required as \u2018a stabilising component in the cathodes of nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles.\u2019<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cThe funding is split into two $50 million tranches, including a $50 million loan facility, convertible into a 1.29-1.65% royalty on project revenues, and another $50m in exchange for a 1.93-2.47% royalty on project revenues following a final investment decision by the company\u2019s board,\u201d Rob says.<\/p>\n

Slipping into second place was\u00a0Ballymore Resources (ASX:BMR)<\/strong><\/a> which says it\u2019s raised $1.8m via a placement\/ entitlement offer \u2013 plus another $1.5m from mining royalty firm Taurus \u2013 to advance the Dittmer gold mine to production.<\/p>\n

And Swoop Telecommunications (ASX:SWP)<\/strong><\/a> went gangbusters.<\/p>\n
