{"id":2445,"date":"2023-11-29T03:32:11","date_gmt":"2023-11-29T03:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=2445"},"modified":"2023-11-29T03:32:11","modified_gmt":"2023-11-29T03:32:11","slug":"locksley-works-to-zero-in-on-rare-earths-source-in-the-shadow-of-the-mountain-pass-mine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=2445","title":{"rendered":"Locksley works to zero in on rare earths source in the shadow of the Mountain Pass mine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Locksley Resources has started a follow-up soil sampling program across six catchment areas at Mojave<br \/>\nThese catchment areas are believed to hold the potential for additional high-grade rare earths<br \/>\nIn addition to further stream samples, reconnaissance rock chip sampling will take place upstream from the already identified catchments shedding REE\u2019s<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report<\/em><\/strong><strong>: A follow-up work program has kicked off on high-grade rare earth elements (REEs) on the north block of Locksley\u2019s Mojave project in California, USA. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/locksley-resources-lky\/\"><strong>Locksley Resources (ASX:LKY)<\/strong><\/a> is chasing valuable rare earth opportunities at its Mojave project, a stone\u2019s throw from the USA\u2019s only operating rare earths mine, Mountain Pass, which accounts for 15% of global supply.<\/p>\n<p>Mojave sits in the shadow of Mountain Pass with mapping and sampling in the September quarter returning 12.1% (122,338 ppm) Total Rare-Earth Oxide (TREO) rock chips from the El Campo prospect.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s an exceptionally high grade for rare earths.<\/p>\n<p>The sample also returned 3.19% NdPr, the critical, highly valuable magnet rare earths used in EV motors, wind turbines, medical devices and even ammunition.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Locksley field staff sampling the North Block. Pic via Locksley Resources<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Follow-up sampling of anomalous catchment areas <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Multiple REE targets have been identified across the northern block at Mojave following a field program undertaken in August which identified six catchment areas as prospective for ongoing REE exploration.<\/p>\n<p>The previously reported results represent a new area of REE potential amongst Mojave\u2019s north block (which abuts Mountain Pass), a large area of 164 claims totalling 14.9km\u00b2 and highlights the potential for additional high-grade REE mineralisation.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Catchments displaying highly anomalous REE mineralisation in stream sediment samples.
