{"id":2204,"date":"2023-11-24T01:58:19","date_gmt":"2023-11-24T01:58:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=2204"},"modified":"2023-11-24T01:58:19","modified_gmt":"2023-11-24T01:58:19","slug":"its-time-to-take-an-aggressive-approach-as-krakatoa-adds-another-6000m-of-lithium-drilling-at-king-tamba","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=2204","title":{"rendered":"\u2018It\u2019s time to take an aggressive approach\u2019 as Krakatoa adds another 6000m of lithium drilling at King Tamba"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An initial 1,200m RC drill campaign at King Tamba has again been expanded to 6,000m<br \/>\nAssays have returned up to 4.3% Li2O from rock chips<br \/>\nDrilling starts next month to test the extent of the high-grade lithium within a 500m x 1.3 km halo<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report: <\/em><\/strong><strong>Lithium explorer Krakatoa Resources is more than tripling its 16-hole, 1,800m RC drilling campaign up to 6,000m at King Tamba.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>King Tamba\u2019s Dalgaranga open pit historically mined 6,434kg of tantalum between 2001-2003 and numerous tin, tantalum and niobium workings had been documented at the time.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s since been pegged as a rubidium deposit, where <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/krakatoa-resources-kta\/\"><strong>Krakatoa Resources (ASX:KTA)<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0defined a maiden resource of 5Mt @ 0.14% rubidium with lithium credits back in March this year, however subsequent exploration indicated that lithium at the 42km2 project is prospective in its own right.<\/p>\n<p>However, subsequent exploration indicated there is additional lithium prospectivity at the 42km2 project in WA\u2019s Dalgaranga region.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Uncovering King Tamba<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>KTA has since zeroed in on three target areas \u2013 the MGM, Loader and Wilsons prospects \u2013 the last of which has a defined mineralised area of 1.3km x 500m with 250m of continuous outcrop.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/krakatoa-launches-into-highly-anticipated-drilling-at-king-tambas-1-3km-long-lithium-corridor\/\"><strong>RC drill started spinning<\/strong><\/a> after rock chip assays returned from the Wilsons prospect and showed further high-grade lithium hits of up to 4.3% Li2O.<\/p>\n<p>KTA then <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/krakatoa-intersects-thick-pegmatite-below-4-3pc-lithium-rock-chip-at-king-tamba\/\"><strong>discovered a continuous and up to 39m thick pegmatite<\/strong><\/a> underneath those sampled rock chips, so KTA, for the third time, extended its maiden RC drilling campaign \u2013 increasing the initial 1,200m program up to 6,000m.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Proposed drill holes at the King Tamba project. Pic supplied: (KTA).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>KTA exec chair Colin Locke says that previous drilling had covered a mere fraction of the 3km LCT corridor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s time to take an aggressive approach and carry out comprehensive drill testing of the high grade anomalous soil zone,\u201d Locke says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe planned drilling will cover the entirety of the high-grade soil anomaly on a roughly 200m x 50m basis, down to an average depth of 140m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce complete, we believe the source of widespread anomalous lithium in soils will become clear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Drill site preparation and logistical planning has already started, with the intention to commence drilling in early December, led by Topdrill.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with Krakatoa Resources, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
