{"id":2116,"date":"2023-11-23T22:10:28","date_gmt":"2023-11-23T22:10:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=2116"},"modified":"2023-11-23T22:10:28","modified_gmt":"2023-11-23T22:10:28","slug":"arizona-lithium-could-be-one-of-north-americas-next-lithium-producers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=2116","title":{"rendered":"Arizona Lithium could be one of North America\u2019s next lithium producers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>2,500L of lithium concentrate produced from Prairie project<br \/>\nPFS due before the end of the year<br \/>\nCommercial production pegged for Q1 2025<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report: <\/em><\/strong><strong>2,500L of lithium concentrate has been produced from Arizona Lithium\u2019s Prairie pilot plant in Saskatchewan, Canada, and has been shipped to its Lithium Research Centre (LRC) for conversion into battery-grade material.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ground has also been <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/clear-road-to-lithium-production-for-arizona-lithiums-prairie-project-after-vital-drilling-approvals-received\/\"><strong>prepped for the first well pad at Prairie<\/strong><\/a>, where <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/arizona-lithium-azl\/\"><strong>Arizona Lithium (ASX:AZL)<\/strong><\/a> is accelerating development of the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/all-systems-go-arizona-lithium-boosts-prairie-resource-40pc-ahead-of-pfs-and-pilot-production\/\"><strong>5.7Mt lithium brine resource<\/strong><\/a> into production.<\/p>\n<p>There are only a handful of lithium producers on the whole continent, including <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/sayona-mining-sya\/\"><strong>Sayona Mining (ASX:SYA)<\/strong><\/a> and Piedmont Lithium\u2019s hard rock NAL project in Quebec and Albemarle\u2019s Silver Peak brine operations in the US.<\/p>\n<p>AZL, which also owns the Big Sandy project in Arizona, believes it could be one of the next producers off the rank to feed North America\u2019s growing hunger for lithium.<\/p>\n<p>The Prairie and Big Sandy lithium brine projects. Pic supplied: (AZL)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Pilot plant production<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Commissioned earlier this month, the company has already processed over 42,000L of raw brine from its well to date, resulting in the production of ~2,500L of lithium concentrate which you can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=plkX0vqIYYE\">see a snazzy video of here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The first two shipments have been sent to the LRC in Tempe, Arizona, for further upgrading to high-purity lithium end products targeted to the battery market.<\/p>\n<p>AZL CTO Brett Rabe says the pilot plant testing campaign is the final step before purchasing long-lead items for the inaugural well pads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are executing our project development plan quickly and efficiently with the commencement of well pad civil works, well license approval and completion of the PFS taking place before the end of 2023,\u201d Rabe says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSaskatchewan is truly an outstanding jurisdiction for lithium project development and we are excited to share pilot plant DLE performance details in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also look forward to updating the market with our project execution plan for what may be the first new producing lithium project in North America in a very long time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with Arizona Lithium, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
