{"id":1927,"date":"2023-11-21T01:01:43","date_gmt":"2023-11-21T01:01:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=1927"},"modified":"2023-11-21T01:01:43","modified_gmt":"2023-11-21T01:01:43","slug":"drilling-on-the-cards-as-gti-uncovers-19km-of-uranium-anomalies-at-green-mountain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=1927","title":{"rendered":"Drilling on the cards as GTI uncovers 19km of uranium anomalies at Green Mountain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GTI Energy finds 12 miles (19kms) of uranium trends at its Green Mountain project in Wyoming, USA<br \/>\nGreen Mountain is in the same neighbourhood as peers Energy Fuels, Ur-Energy, UEC and Rio Tinto<br \/>\nTargeting &amp; permitting for future exploration drilling in 2024 the next step<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report:<\/em> Geophysics has revealed 12 miles (~19km) of radiometric anomalies indicative of uranium trends at GTI Energy\u2019s Green Mountain project in Wyoming, USA.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The project is in Wyoming\u2019s prolific Crooks Gap\/Green Mountain\/Great Divide Basin uranium production district \u2013 the same neighbourhood as Energy Fuel\u2019s (EFR) 30Mlb Sheep Mountain deposit, Ur-Energy\u2019s (URE) 14Mlb Lost Soldier in-situ recovery (ISR) deposit and UEC\u2019s (UEC) Jab &amp; Antelope deposits.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also in the vicinity of <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/rio-tinto-rio\/\"><strong>Rio Tinto\u2019s (<\/strong><strong>ASX:<\/strong><strong>RIO)<\/strong><\/a> Big Eagle (past producing), Jackpot, Desert View, Phase II, and Willow Creek deposits.<\/p>\n<p>This area collectively referred to as the Green Mountain uranium district is known to contain in excess of 70 million pounds U3O8.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/gti-energy-gtr\/\"><strong>GTI Energy (ASX:GTR)<\/strong><\/a> also holds the nearby Great Divide Basin projects and the Lo Herma project in Wyoming\u2019s Powder River Basin where they\u2019re drilling to <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/the-drill-bit-is-spinning-at-gtis-lo-herma-within-a-whisker-of-the-us-largest-isr-uranium-production-plant\/\"><strong>validate and upgrade the inferred 5.7Mlb resource grading 630ppm.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Drilling could now be on the cards for Green Mountain too, after the recently completed airborne radiometric and magnetic survey identified 12 miles of anomalous uranium trends across the project area which will be used to aid targeting for future exploration drilling.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>GTI Energy\u2019s Wyoming project locations alongside uranium processing plants in the area. Pic via GTR<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>An area with real potential<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThe aerial geophysical survey has provided us with clear direction as to where to drill at Green Mountain,\u201d GTI Energy executive director Bruce Lane said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been able to utilise the historical drilling and geological information completed by Kerr McGee Corporation, Wold Nuclear and others during the 1970\u2019s and 1980\u2019s to help interpret and extrapolate significant additional anomalous uranium trends, particularly within the eastern part of the extensive Green Mountain land position.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe land package is surrounded by significant uranium deposits and resources owned by Rio Tinto, Energy Fuels, Ur Energy and UEC, so we know we are in an area with real potential.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur next step is to progress work on refining drill targets and permitting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Green Mountain project shows 12 miles \u2013 roughly 19km \u2013 of anomalous uranium trends. Pic via GTR<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Time to double down on drill targets<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The radiometric survey measures radiometric emanations called gamma rays to determine concentrations of naturally occurring radioelements potassium, uranium, and thorium.<\/p>\n<p>The airborne survey method is limited to near-surface measurements, which means there\u2019s potential for deeper mineralization across the entire survey area that is not shown in the survey due to obscurement by excess overburden and\/or overlying gamma emitters.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 12 miles of anomalies identified, six have been flagged for follow up and correlate with historically identified drill holes, interpreted trends, areas of past mining and\/or known mineralisation.<\/p>\n<p>The company is currently planning for 50 initial drill holes with an average drill depth of 1,500 feet at the project in mid to late 2024.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, GTR has staked 28 additional claims at Green Mountain \u2013 based on results of the geophysical surveys \u2013 bringing the total holdings to 697 mining claims spanning roughly 14,000 acres.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe potential of this area came to GTI\u2019s attention through our review of the geophysical survey and is considered highly prospective for uranium mineralisation within the Battle Springs formation,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Why Wyoming?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Why are uranium hopefuls setting up in Wyoming?
