{"id":1530,"date":"2023-11-16T02:36:18","date_gmt":"2023-11-16T02:36:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=1530"},"modified":"2023-11-16T02:36:18","modified_gmt":"2023-11-16T02:36:18","slug":"pioneer-already-has-boots-on-the-ground-at-new-benham-lithium-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=1530","title":{"rendered":"Pioneer already has boots on the ground at new Benham lithium project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maiden fieldwork program underway at the Benham lithium project<br \/>\nField teams mobilised to identify pegmatite outcrops<br \/>\nAnalysis will determine future exploration programs<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report: <\/em><\/strong><strong>Exploration work is underway at Pioneer Lithium\u2019s newly optioned Benham lithium project in Ontario, which is emerging as a prolific critical minerals district with downstream opportunities for miners to feed into nearby battery manufacturing operations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Car manufacturers such as Stellantis (the umbrella of Dodge, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Peugot and Citro\u00ebn brands), Ford and Honda are pouring billions of dollars into the region to shore up nearby supply chains.<\/p>\n<p>Great news for explorers in the region, which is highly prospective for lithium deposits as one of Canada\u2019s Tier-1 mining jurisdictions.<\/p>\n<p>Source: Government of Canada.<\/p>\n<p>In a tough year for IPOs, September listing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/pioneer-lithium-pln\/\">Pioneer Lithium (ASX:PLN)<\/a>\u00a0has been a strong performer since making its ASX debut.<\/p>\n<p>This comes down to a few things: namely, great Canadian lithium assets in the right place and at the right time, and an elite team of company makers to push them forward.<\/p>\n<p>Pioneer managing director Clinton Booth says the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/right-projects-right-place-right-time-the-pioneer-lithium-team-is-absolutely-aligned-on-being-a-developer\/\">Pioneer\u2019s projects are perfectly placed in Tier-1 lithium locations<\/a> near the rapidly expanding demand for battery metals in North America \u2013 and that bodes well for future development.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Boots on the ground at Benham<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Exploration is already underway at <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/pioneer-lithium-pln\/\"><strong>Pioneer Lithium\u2019s (ASX:PLN)<\/strong><\/a> Benham, just days after it <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/pioneer-just-added-another-greenfields-lithium-project-to-its-growing-canadian-portfolio\/\"><strong>optioned to purchase the highly prospective tenure<\/strong><\/a> for C$375k (plus resource-based milestone payments).<\/p>\n<p>The project area covers 30 claims for ~1,245ha, straddling a narrow greenstone belt.<\/p>\n<p>A targeted fieldwork program with contractor Coast Mountain Geological is mapping pegmatite outcrops and their structural interpretation, while also collecting rock chip samples to be assayed to assess future drill targets.<\/p>\n<p>The Benham project. Pic supplied: (PLN)<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Benham, PLN MD Clinton Booth says it\u2019s the company\u2019s first opportunity to explore the ground at the project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a great effort by the team to have mobilised so quickly to commence a prospecting and mapping campaign, just a week and a half since executing the option agreement,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Elsewhere in Canada<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>PLN\u2019s main game is the Root Lake project, down the road from Benham and right next door to <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/green-technology-metals-gt1\/\">Green Technology Metals\u2019\u00a0(ASX:GT1)<\/a>\u00a0 14.6Mt Root Bay deposit.<\/p>\n<p>The company has already\u00a0found three pegmatites \u2014 a host rock for lithium mineralisation \u2014 along the Extended Morrison trend in the north-west part of the project, which is also directly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/pegmatites-confirmed-hot-ipo-pioneer-spies-multiple-lithium-targets-across-the-fence-from-gt1-in-ontario\/\">along strike from GT1\u2019s Morrison-McCombe pegmatite system.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A drill program is being planned, which will feed into an exploration target and maiden resource in the first half of 2024.<\/p>\n<p>PLN also owns the LaGrande project in Quebec which is surrounded by large lithium deposits such as <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/patriot-battery-metals-pmt\/\">Patriot Battery Metals\u2019 (ASX:PMT<\/a>) district-scale 109.2Mt @ 1.42% Li2O Corvette project and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/winsome-resources-wr1\/\">Winsome Resources\u2019 (ASX:WR1)<\/a> Cancet discovery.<\/p>\n<p>The explorer is undertaking geological recon programs off historical data across three claim areas to determine future fieldwork that will look to identify lithium dispersion and associated pathfinder minerals.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with Pioneer Lithium, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
