{"id":1470,"date":"2023-11-15T03:56:20","date_gmt":"2023-11-15T03:56:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=1470"},"modified":"2023-11-15T03:56:20","modified_gmt":"2023-11-15T03:56:20","slug":"olympios-maiden-drilling-at-walloway-to-focus-on-multiple-carbonatite-rare-earths-targets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=1470","title":{"rendered":"Olympio\u2019s maiden drilling at Walloway to focus on multiple carbonatite rare earths targets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>High-priority magnetic targets are being drilled at Walloway<br \/>\nSoil sampling has revealed several areas of REE anomalism<br \/>\nGround gravity surveys and deep RC drilling will follow up<br \/>\nCarbonatite geology is known to host high-grade REEs<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report: <\/em><\/strong><strong>Olympio has started an AC drill campaign at the Walloway prospect where it has identified carbonatite targets highly prospective for rare earth deposits.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The extensive G2 crustal corridor is known for its alkaline igneous rock types and rare earths (REE) mineralisation, hosting large REE deposits at <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/arafura-rare-earths-aru\/\"><strong>Arafura Rare Earth\u2019s (ASX:ARU)<\/strong><\/a> Nolans and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/australian-rare-earths-ar3\/\"><strong>Australian Rare Earths\u2019 (ASX:AR3)<\/strong><\/a> Koppamurra, as well elevated REE values at <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/bhp-bhp\/\"><strong>BHP\u2019s (ASX:BHP)<\/strong><\/a> monstrous Olympic Dam and Carrapateena projects.<\/p>\n<p>However, Olympio is the first explorer to recognise the rare earths potential of the carbonatites and alkaline igneous rocks at Eurelia.<\/p>\n<p>Alkaline intrusive complexes often occur as plugs, dykes, sills, breccias or veins. Those that are carbonatite in nature are often mineralised with REEs and a plethora of critical minerals too.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Known carbonatite geology across Australia and other REE projects. Pic supplied: (OLY).<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>AC drilling of magnetic targets<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>OLY has delineated a <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/big-bodies-olympio-is-about-to-drill-these-potentially-monstrous-rare-earths-niobium-carbonatite-targets-for-the-first-time\/\"><strong>&gt;10km trend of coincident niobium and REE mineralisation<\/strong><\/a> with up to 819 parts per million (ppm) niobium and 1.02% total rare earth oxides (TREO) at Eurelia and is now focusing on drilling the Walloway prospect.<\/p>\n<p>Recent Ultra Fine fraction soil sampling revealed several areas of notable REE anomalism that are spatially correlated with magnetic targets.<\/p>\n<p>OLY is getting the drill bit out to test these high-priority magnetic targets at the W1, W2, W3, W6 and W7 locations, which have shown to start close to surface and extend down to a considerable depth.<\/p>\n<p>Initial AC drilling has commenced and will be followed up by a ground gravity survey combined with deep RC drilling \u2013 the same methods used by <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/wa1-resources-wa1\/\"><strong>WA1 Resources (ASX:WA1)<\/strong><\/a> to define carbonatite targets that extend to significant depths in the West Arunta region.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Olympio\u2019s Eurelia REE project, including the Walloway prospect.
