{"id":1468,"date":"2023-11-15T04:11:43","date_gmt":"2023-11-15T04:11:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=1468"},"modified":"2023-11-15T04:11:43","modified_gmt":"2023-11-15T04:11:43","slug":"leeuwin-metals-adds-scale-to-cross-lake-unearths-thick-hits-up-to-1-94pc-lithium-from-historical-drilling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=1468","title":{"rendered":"Leeuwin Metals adds scale to Cross Lake, unearths thick hits up to 1.94pc lithium from historical drilling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Leeuwin receives assays from recent sampling on three historic drill holes at Cross Lake<br \/>\nResults delineate a significant pegmatite swarm, currently defined by historical drilling within a 6km prospective corridor<br \/>\nThe company has submitted a drill application for an initial 10,000m to be undertaken in the first half of \u201924 <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report<\/em>: A further three holes have returned significant widths of high-grade lithium mineralisation at the Cross Lake project in Manitoba, Canada, confirming the project as an emerging lithium opportunity. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/leeuwin-metals-lm1\/\">Leeuwin Metals\u2019 (ASX:LM1)<\/a> Cross Lake project represents a large-scale opportunity, featuring mapped pegmatite swarms extending over 6km of strike.<\/p>\n<p>To date, this vast region has remained largely unexplored despite its lithium potential.<\/p>\n<p>So far in its exploration endeavours, LM1 has found promising indications of a mineralised system through the discovery of multiple spodumene bearing occurrences during the re-sampling of historic drill holes and channel sampling.<\/p>\n<p>Spodumene, a mineral which grades ~6% lithium, is the holy grail for hard rock explorers.<\/p>\n<p>Exploration has also uncovered pegmatites over a 4.7km trend at the Spodumene Island and Metis Island prospect areas, enhancing the project\u2019s value and making it a top priority heading into 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Current results and previously released results of historical drill holes. Pic via Leeuwin Metals<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Drilling returns lithium in all holes <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Assays have been received from recent sampling of three historic drill holes at Cross Lake.<\/p>\n<p>A total of nine holes have been assayed, all of which have shown significant widths and grades of lithium mineralisation.<\/p>\n<p>These latest results indicate that the system remains open in all directions, even with the limited drill testing that has occurred.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple, shallow intersections of spodumene bearing pegmatites include:<\/p>\n<p>24.96m at 1.09% Li2O from 6m and 9.79m at 1.18% Li2O from 75.55m in hole XL-17;<br \/>\n7.21m at 1.94% Li2O from 19m in hole XL-19; and<br \/>\n4.73m at 1.78% Li2O from 45.27m in hole XL-4.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Well-placed for next phase of exploration in 2024 <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cBuilding on our successful re-assay of historical drill holes for lithium, today\u2019s findings reinforce the presence of high-grade lithium and contribute to the substantial scale and potential of Cross Lake,\u201d LM1 managing director Christopher Piggott says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGeographically, Manitoba is centrally located in North America, providing significant benefits to the project, this includes its close proximity to major railway, hydro power, and year-round road access.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLeeuwin is well-capitalised to advance into the next phase of exploration, and the company looks forward to providing regular updates to the market as we advance our activities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What else is coming up?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>With the completion of 2023 field work and the receipt of all remaining drill assays, LM1 is aiming to complete a maiden drill program at the project in the first half of 2024.<\/p>\n<p>A drill permit application has been submitted to the Permitting Offices of the Manitoba Department of Economic Development, Investment and Trade for an initial 10,000m of drilling.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with Leeuwin Metals, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
