{"id":1314,"date":"2023-11-13T00:45:14","date_gmt":"2023-11-13T00:45:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=1314"},"modified":"2023-11-13T00:45:14","modified_gmt":"2023-11-13T00:45:14","slug":"asx-health-stocks-4dx-skyrockets-54pc-after-us-update-on-its-xv-lvas-scanning-device","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=1314","title":{"rendered":"ASX Health Stocks: 4DX skyrockets 54pc after US update on its XV LVAS scanning device"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>4DX surges more than 50pc after an update from the US<br \/>\nPYC Therapeutic said its fourth drug candidate could be effective in kidney disease<br \/>\nPro Medicus has just signed a $20m, eight-year contract in the US<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>4D Medical up over 50pc<\/h2>\n<p>Medtech company, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/4d-medical-4dx\/\">4DMedical (ASX:4DX)<\/a><\/strong>, surged 54% this morning after announcing that its<strong> XV LVAS scanning device<\/strong> has been included into the <strong>U.S. Centers for Medicare &amp; Medicaid Services (CMS)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The CMS is the US federal agency providing health coverage through <em>Medicare, Medicaid, the Children\u2019s Health Insurance Program, and the Health Insurance Marketplace.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Medicare<\/strong> is an important public health insurance scheme for US adults aged 65 years and over; and as of 1 March, there were 65.7 million people enrolled in the program.<\/p>\n<p>The inclusion today means that from 1 January 2024, XV LVAS scans conducted in a US hospital outpatient facility for Medicare patients can be billed to CMS.<\/p>\n<p>CMS has accepted the reimbursement request and finalised assignment of the <strong>Category III CPT code<\/strong> for XV LVAS to the rate of <strong>US$299 per scan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>4DX\u2019s XV LVAS\u00a0uses X-rays to create detailed images of lung movement and function during breathing. It gives clinicians a clearer picture of lung health for pulmonary disorders including asthma, COPD, cystic\u00a0fibrosis,\u00a0and even cancer.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Also read:<a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/health\/4d-medicals-technology-disrupts-century-old-procedures-and-makes-over-90pc-profit-margin\/#:~:text=The%20XV%20LVAS%20uses%20X,movement%20and%20function%20during%20breathing.\"> 4D Medical\u2019s technology disrupts century-old procedures AND makes over 90pc profit margin<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>4DMedical CEO and founder, <strong>Andreas Fouras<\/strong>, said achieving Medicare reimbursement of US$299 per scan is a major milestone in the company\u2019s progress to secure reimbursement across the entire US healthcare system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis ruling will lead to accelerated uptake of XV LVAS, which in turn will support our pursuit of a Category I CPT code,\u201d said Fouras, referring to US coding for different procedures performed in inpatient and outpatient offices and hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p3\">PYC\u2019s fourth drug candidate is effective in kidney disease<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p3\">RNA-therapies focused biotech, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/pyc-therapeutics-pyc\/\">PYC Therapeutics (ASX:PYC)<\/a><\/strong>, said its fourth drug candidate had disease-modifying potential in patients with end-stage renal failure due to <strong>PKD (polycystic kidney disease)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A study conducted by PYC in <strong>human 3-dimensional models<\/strong> showed that its investigational drug candidate, <strong>PYC-003<\/strong>, could address PKD at the root cause.<\/p>\n<p>Results showed a deduction in cyst size and frequency following treatment with PYC-003 in a human 3D model, which was generated using tissue collected directly from the kidneys of PKD patients.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Source: PYC<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These results complement data from animal models highlighting the ability of PYC-003 to reach the cells affected in PKD.<\/p>\n<p>PKD is a life-changing disease affecting 1 in every 1,000 people, with an addressable market of &gt;US$10 billion per annum.
