{"id":1234,"date":"2023-11-10T02:14:07","date_gmt":"2023-11-10T02:14:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=1234"},"modified":"2023-11-10T02:14:07","modified_gmt":"2023-11-10T02:14:07","slug":"asx-small-caps-lunch-wrap-local-markets-sink-at-lunch-while-were-drowning-in-lithium-at-lake-johnston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=1234","title":{"rendered":"ASX Small Caps Lunch Wrap: Local markets sink at lunch while we\u2019re drowning in lithium at Lake Johnston"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Local markets are back in Struggletown on Friday, but it isn\u2019t all doom and gloom \u2013 following the excellent drill results from <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/tg-metals-tg6\/\">TG Metals (ASX:TG6)<\/a>, and subsequent share price rise, there\u2019s now suddenly quite a bit of interest in companies with tenements in that Lake Johnston region in WA.<\/p>\n<p>Off the back of the TG6 success we\u2019ve now seen <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/flynn-gold-fg1\/\"><strong>Flynn Gold (ASX:FG1)<\/strong><\/a>, which has neighbouring land to TG6, jump as much as 69% yesterday, nice, and this morning <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/rubix-resources-rb6\/\"><strong>Rubix Resources (ASX:RB6)<\/strong><\/a> has been up as much as 58% after it also announced developments in Lake Johnston.<\/p>\n<p>At 12pm the benchmark ASX 200 (XJO) index was down 43 points or -0.62% to 6,971.<\/p>\n<p>Via MarketIndex<\/p>\n<p>The ASX200 finished 19 points (+0.28%) higher yesterday at 7015. It\u2019s a shame to be back in the more mentally challenging under 7,000 points range again.<\/p>\n<p>Still, it\u2019s been a good run. Overnight Wall Street snapped the winning ways of November thus far as once again US yields came surging back into play after an unloved and poorly attented 30-year bond auction.<\/p>\n<p>More troublesome \u2013 US Fed Chair J. Powell said the Fed won\u2019t hesitate to tighten the money taps further if needed.<\/p>\n<p>Powell noted that the FOMC are not confident that policy rates are high enough to achieve the 2% target and that the FOMC won\u2019t hesitate to tighten more if appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>There was quite a lot inappropriate about J Powell last night, if you stay to the end:<\/p>\n<p>JUST IN:  FED Chair Jerome Powell says \u201cjust close the f*cking door\u201d after climate protestors interrupt his speech. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/feDlOteRaz\">pic.twitter.com\/feDlOteRaz<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Watcher.Guru (@WatcherGuru) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WatcherGuru\/status\/1722697080743907452?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 9, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n\n<p>Oil prices rose from 3\u2011month lows, with Brent near $US80bbl.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>ASX SECTORS ON FRIDAY<\/h2>\n<p>Today is a little payback, as all 11 sectors on the Australian equities exchange head to the deep red of disappointment.<\/p>\n<p>Remarkably, Healthcare stocks continue to prove attractive after a long year of neglect and while still in the red, are far from being sold off.<\/p>\n<p>Utilities, Tech stocks and the Financial Sector have been out front of this morning\u2019s selling.<\/p>\n<p>An apologetic performance from <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/national-australia-bank-nab\/\"><strong>National Australia Bank (ASX:NAB)<\/strong><\/a> after Thursday\u2019s decent result was hamstrung by an indecent proposal from the CEO who suggested NAB\u2019s 8.8% surge in FY23 profit would be as good as it gets for a bit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/westpac-wbc\/\"><strong>Westpac (ASX:WBC)<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/commonwealth-bank-cba\/\"><strong>Commonwealth Bank (ASX:CBA)<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/australia-and-new-zealand-banking-group-anz\/\"><strong>Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ASX:ANZ)<\/strong><\/a> are all about -1% lower at lunch.<\/p>\n<p>Other big-end-of-towners to make a Friday feel like a Monday \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/origin-energy-org\/\"><strong>Origin Energy (ASX:ORG)<\/strong><\/a> (-1.9%), <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/woodside-energy-group-wds\/\"><strong>Woodside Energy Group (ASX:WDS)<\/strong><\/a> (-1%) and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/pilbara-minerals-pls\/\"><strong>Pilbara Minerals (ASX:PLS)<\/strong><\/a> (-2.7%). The benchmark index is on track to end the week flat.<\/p>\n<p>Via MarketIndex<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Better signs for index heavyweight CSL, which gained 1.18% yesterday to $252.30, 10% above its $228.65 low last week. Xero saw its share price plunge 12.42% to $100.47 following a softer-than-expected 1H trading update.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, inflation in China is looking a lot more like deflation in China.<\/p>\n<p>IG Markets analyst Tony Sycamore says the softer Chinese activity data and inflation \u201craise the odds of additional government stimulus measures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/fortescue-metals-group-fmg\/\"><strong>Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG)<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/rio-tinto-rio\/\"><strong>Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO)<\/strong><\/a> gained and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/bhp-bhp\/\"><strong>BHP (ASX:BHP)<\/strong><\/a> are all higher.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>ASX SMALL CAP WINNERS<\/h2>\n<p><em><strong>Here are the best performing ASX small cap stocks for 10 November [intraday]:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Swipe or scroll to reveal full table. The stock is killing it and \u2013 every now and again \u2013 ASX shareholders deserve a big dog to rally round, like this one:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2026We are aware that our Company, like many in the industrial technology space, is not achieving market recognition <\/em><em>for its potential value. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>To mitigate this, we are introducing the Company to international investor markets, and at the same <\/em><em>time increasing exposure to potential European and North American industrial users to increase brand awareness with the <\/em><em>aim of increasing our potential for partnerships, customers and strategic investors.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>There is, of course, a more immediate source of revenue from our Aurora Energy Precinct, near Port Augusta in South <\/em><em>Australia. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>After several years of delays, we are confident of securing access to the high voltage transmission line and are <\/em><em>now assessing infrastructure and operating partners for the large battery proposed for the site. Our intent at this time is <\/em><em>for 1414 Degrees to retain an interest in the project and its cash flow while reducing our contribution to capital costs via <\/em><em>strategic deals.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In summary, your Company is in a strong position to provide value for shareholders as a result of our activities during <\/em><em>FY23. Your board maintains a tight focus on results and governance for the benefit of all shareholders. Our <\/em><em>supportive partnerships with the Australian Government, Woodside Energy, Refratechnik Steel, Vast Solar and <\/em><em>Adelaide University provide a very strong foundation for the future. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, as my fantastic colleague Nadine McGrath pointed out \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/news\/10-at-11ish-whos-up-on-news-about-lithium-projects-at-lake-johnstone-today\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">it\u2019s all about Lake Johnston lithium out in the Goldfields Esperance region of WA<\/a> with several companies up on news about projects in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Way out ahead at lunchtime is <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/rubix-resources-rb6\/\"><strong>Rubix Resources (ASX:RB6)<\/strong><\/a>, which\u00a0says a cultural heritage survey will start on November 30 at its Lake Johnston lithium project in WA with a program of works for its maiden drilling program approved.<\/p>\n<p>Also up and away is <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/bryah-resources-byh\/\"><strong>Bryah Resources (ASX:BYH)<\/strong><\/a> which says it\u2019s fast-tracking its lithium exploration at Lake Johnston with CEO Ashley Jones saying <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/tg-metals-tg6\/\"><strong>TG Metals\u2019 (ASX:TG6)<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0recent success has put a strong emphasis again on the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have already shown that we have LCT type pegmatites on Bryah\u2019s tenements with 403ppm Li2O at the Roundbottom Prospect. So we know the potential,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cdn-api.markitdigital.com\/apiman-gateway\/ASX\/asx-research\/1.0\/file\/2924-02738276-6A1179831?access_token=83ff96335c2d45a094df02a206a39ff4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Next up is <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/techgen-metals-tg1\/\"><strong>TechGen Metals (ASX:TG1)<\/strong><\/a> which dropped an update on its projects including stage three drilling approved for its John Bull Gold Project and pegmatite mapping to kick off at Ida Valley with historic data identifying lithium and caesiumin soils up to 144.5ppm Li (311ppm Li2O) along the Ida Fault.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/charger-metals-chr\/\"><strong>Charger Metals (ASX:CHR)<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0reports assay results from soil sampling completed earlier this year have identified several new lithium targets at the Mt Gordon tenement of its Lake Johnston lithium project.<\/p>\n<p>And <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/avita-medical-avh\/\"><strong>Avita Medical (ASX:AVH)<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0has announced its third quarter financial results with 51% commercial revenue growth on pcp to $13.5 million and gross margin of 84.5% for the quarter.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>ASX SMALL CAP LOSERS<\/h2>\n<p><em><strong>Here are the most-worst performing ASX small cap stocks for 10 November [intraday]:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Swipe or scroll to reveal full table.
