{"id":12248,"date":"2024-07-15T03:56:14","date_gmt":"2024-07-15T03:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=12248"},"modified":"2024-07-15T03:56:14","modified_gmt":"2024-07-15T03:56:14","slug":"hyterra-receives-approval-to-drill-second-nemaha-hydrogen-well","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=12248","title":{"rendered":"HyTerra receives approval to drill second Nemaha hydrogen well"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HyTerra secures drill permit for Blythe 13-20 \u2013 the second Nemaha project hydrogen well<br \/>\nThe well is 1,400m east of the historical Scott-1 well that reported 56% hydrogen<br \/>\nAlong with Sue Duroche-3 and other well prospects, the company has plenty of options to choose from for its Q3 drill program<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special Report:<\/em> HyTerra has received the green light from regulator the Kansas Corporation Commission to drill a second hydrogen well at its flagship Nemaha project.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The approval comes less than a week after the company also received the drilling permit for the <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/energy\/hyterra-has-green-light-for-drilling-of-hydrogen-helium-well-at-nemaha\/\">Sue Duroche-3 well<\/a>. These approvals give <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/hyterra-hyt\/\"><strong>HyTerra Limited (ASX:HYT)<\/strong><\/a> plenty of optionality for its upcoming drilling program in Q3 this year.<\/p>\n<p>Drilling will prove up the potential of HYT\u2019s 12,720 acre Nemaha project in Kansas to host both hydrogen and helium within a major\u00a0industrial and manufacturing hub between Kansas City and Wichita.<\/p>\n<p>Finding naturally occurring hydrogen \u2013 also known as white hydrogen \u2013\u00a0 in commercial quantities will allow the company to quickly find offtakers as over 35% of US ammonia, a compound of hydrogen and nitrogen, is produced near its leases.<\/p>\n<p>This will deliver revenue and also decarbonise sectors such as ammonia fertiliser by replacing the large quantities of hydrogen used in the manufacturing process that would otherwise be refined from fossil fuels.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Blythe 13-20 prospect. Pic: HyTerra<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Second permit to drill<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The new permit to drill was received for the proposed Blythe 13-20 well that was staked about 1,400m east of the historical Scott-1 well that was drilled in 1982 and reported up to 56% hydrogen.<\/p>\n<p>It sits about halfway between the Mid-Continent Rift System and the crest of the Nemaha Ridge and is interpreted to host a structural trap according to airborne gravity gradiometry and magnetic survey work.<\/p>\n<p>HYT also has ~6,500 acres of wholly-owned and operated lease holdings geologically contiguous to this well, which has a planned total depth that is significantly deeper than Scott-1.<\/p>\n<p>Managing director Benjamin Mee said the company was pleased to get its second well permit approved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe original Scott-1 well only drilled approximately half of the sedimentary section and no basement,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike the recently permitted Sue Duroche-3, the planned well trajectories are going a lot deeper than the neighbouring historic wells to test these deeper sections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the geological play diversity available, we will continue the permitting of drilling locations of several independent hydrogen and helium prospects to support the final well selection for the company\u2019s upcoming exploration program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was developed in collaboration with HyTerra, a Stockhead advertiser at the time of publishing. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This article does not constitute financial product advice.
