Investors will be wanting to hear the details of President-Elect Joe Biden\u2019s proposed \u2018economic rescue package\u2019 for the American economy.<\/p>\n

The package is set to be delivered to the US Congress on Thursday evening, US time, and there is speculation the amount involved could add up to $US2 trillion ($2.5 trillion).<\/p>\n

Bond yields, the effective rate of interest, on 10-year US Treasuries went up to 1.1 per cent ahead of Biden\u2019s speech, and were trading at 0.9 per cent last week.<\/p>\n

Higher bond rates could start to impact prices for alternative assets such as gold or cryptocurrencies which have already been unsettled this week.<\/p>\n
