{"id":11373,"date":"2024-06-26T02:38:20","date_gmt":"2024-06-26T02:38:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=11373"},"modified":"2024-06-26T02:38:20","modified_gmt":"2024-06-26T02:38:20","slug":"norwest-primes-tamba-target-for-drilling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=11373","title":{"rendered":"Norwest primes Tamba target for drilling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Norwest Minerals has included the Tamba target in its upcoming drilling plans<br \/>\nThe Tamba copper-gold geochemical target is associated with elevated gravity features and magnetic structures which extend through Prodigy Gold\u2019s Arcee prospect<br \/>\nThe Tamba heritage survey is complete, with the new Malibu and Duck IOCG and carbonatite targets to also be drill tested <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special report<\/em>: Norwest Minerals has added the large \u2018Tamba\u2019 copper-gold geochemical target to its upcoming drilling program in the hotter than hot West Arunta province in Western Australia. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As well as several high-priority geochemical and magnetic critical mineral anomalies, NWM has added \u2018Tamba\u2019 with drilling to test the eastern extent of the \u2018Arunta West\u2019 project.<\/p>\n<p>The 3km x 1.5km copper-gold anomaly sits along geophysical structures extending southeast through <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/prodigy-gold-prx\/\">Prodigy Gold\u2019s (ASX:PRX)<\/a> Arcee gold prospect and northwest through tenements owned by mining behemoth <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/rio-tinto-rio\/\">Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>NWM says the target, which includes a large internal gold footprint of 2.5km x 0.5km, also contains a suite of anomalous elements including uranium, cobalt, cerium, lanthanum, barium, bismuth, and potassium.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>The new niobium rush<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Up to 90% of niobium is produced in Brazil but the West Arunta region, which straddles the WA and NT borders, is giving the South American country a run for its money with explorers like <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/wa1-resources-wa1\/\">WA1 Resources (ASX:WA1)<\/a> uncovering thick, high-grade niobium in the remote but highly mineralised province.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, ongoing drilling success at the Luni discovery has seen that stock surge a barely believable 10,400% from 14c to $14.70\/sh, a dream come true for investors.<\/p>\n<p>Its success has also called attention to other explorers in the area such as fellow neighbours <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/cgn-resources-cgr\/\">CGN Resources (ASX:CGR),<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/encounter-resources-enr\/\">Encounter Resources (ASX:ENR)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/norwest-minerals-nwm\/\">Norwest Minerals (ASX:NWM),<\/a> whose portfolio includes tenements that immediately abut Luni and sit directly adjacent from Rio\u2019s tenure, where multiple targets have been earmarked for investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Encounter was the latest to surge this week on niobium rich drill hits,<a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/encounters-thick-high-grade-niobium-find-strengthens-westwards-burley-muscles-up\/\"> including 52m at a stonking 3% Nb2O5<\/a>, showing the gains on offer if Norwest too can hit the motherlode.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Upcoming drilling <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cTamba\u2019s large copper-gold geochemical footprint and associated geophysical features makes it an exciting addition to our West Arunta drilling plans,\u201d NWM CEO Charles Schaus says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cImportantly, Tamba has been heritage cleared and is the likely starting point for the upcoming drill program which is currently being finalised.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Along with Tamba, the new Malibu and Duck IOCG and carbonatite targets will also be drill tested.<\/p>\n<p>Analysis of gravity data highlighted the two zones as large priority-one IOCG and carbonatite critical mineral targets.<\/p>\n<p>Arunta West gravity map showing location of priority one geophysical target zones \u2018Malibu and Duck.\u2019 Pic: Norwest Minerals<\/p>\n<p>Structural Interpretation reveals a potential fold system at Malibu with coincident magnetic and gravity highs in the fold hinge.<\/p>\n<p>At Duck, a 5km x 1km elongated structure is identified as an IOCG target.
