{"id":1075,"date":"2023-11-08T00:34:33","date_gmt":"2023-11-08T00:34:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=1075"},"modified":"2023-11-08T00:34:33","modified_gmt":"2023-11-08T00:34:33","slug":"get-your-tools-and-start-looking-cause-golden-state-mining-has-found-pegmatites-in-wa-gold-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=1075","title":{"rendered":"Get your tools and start looking, cause Golden State Mining has found pegmatites in WA gold country"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pegmatite dykes identified at Paynes Find during follow-up field work<br \/>\nSamples sent to lab to assess lithium analysis with drilling likely early next year<br \/>\nGSM is hunting for the good stuff near the Golden Grove copper mine and a host of smaller gold deposits<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Special report: <\/em>WA\u2019s Paynes Find is a traditional gold hotspot but Golden State Mining has identified pegmatite dykes, raising the lithium hosting potential of the gold rush locale.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While the hunt continues for lithium and gold at <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/stockhead-tv\/pilbara-lithium-huge-discoveries-ignite-interest-in-the-region\/\">Yule in the Pilbara\u2019s Mallina Basin<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/golden-state-mining-gsm\/\">Golden State Mining (ASX: GSM)<\/a> has been encouraged by the discovery of a series of pegmatite dyke \u201cswarms\u201d at Paynes Find Central and Paynes Find North in the Murchison region.<\/p>\n<p>GSM collected 19 rock chip samples from common pegmatite exposures in an area\u00a0 with anomalous lithium, caesium and rubidium values delineated in a recent soil sampling program. Numerous sub-cropping to outcropping pegmatite dyke-like intrusives with weak-to-moderate weathering were recorded.<\/p>\n<p>Samples have been submitted for lithium suite analysis with results expected early next month.<\/p>\n<p>GSM\u2019s Paynes Find project, about 30km north of the township of the same name, is comprised of five exploration licences and one exploration licence application covering a total area of more than 1,300km2.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Paynes Find Central rock chip location on a mapped pegmatite outcrop (yellow dashed lines). Pic via GSM<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Carving out a new path<\/h2>\n<p>Previous explorers have focused mainly on the greenstone belts adjacent to the project area with only minor and unsystematic exploration work completed on GSM\u2019s tenure to date. The focus has traditionally centred on gold, base metals and iron ore.<\/p>\n<p>Paynes Find is hosted in the same region as the operating Golden Grove copper-gold mine as well as the Rothsay and Kirkalocka gold deposits. Lithium-bearing pegmatites have also previously been identified at places such as Mount Edon and Goodingnow.<\/p>\n<p>GSM managing director Michael Moore said the company\u2019s latest field trip to Paynes Find was designed to follow up on previously reported anomalous lithium, caesium and rubidium assay results.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Paynes Find project was pegged by GSM after a high-level targeting exercise identified it as having the right geological attributes to host lithium mineralisation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe now look forward to finalising drill target areas and undertaking drilling in early 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>GSM indicated any positive results for lithium, caesium, tantalum or rare earths would be \u201cvigorously pursued\u201d via prospect-scale field and structural mapping as well as detailed rock chip sampling.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rock chip sample displaying distinctive ultra-violet fluorescence of potential lithium bearing minerals.
