{"id":10573,"date":"2024-06-05T03:42:07","date_gmt":"2024-06-05T03:42:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=10573"},"modified":"2024-06-05T03:42:07","modified_gmt":"2024-06-05T03:42:07","slug":"resources-top-5-jby-and-mga-grab-limelight-for-lithium-but-never-mind-that-g6m-has-tungsten","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/economicherald.net\/?p=10573","title":{"rendered":"Resources Top 5: JBY and MGA grab limelight for lithium, but never mind that\u2026 G6M has tungsten"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>James Bay Minerals and Metalsgrove Mining are bringing the lithium gains love for investors today<br \/>\nMeanwhile, Group 6 Metals has breezed past them with a larger intraday pump, thanks to its Tassie tungsten update<br \/>\nMGU and GML also having a positive start to their Wednesdays<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>Here are some of the biggest resources winners in early trade, Wednesday June 5.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/james-bay-minerals-jby\/\"><strong>James Bay Minerals (ASX:JBY)<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Canadian-focused lithium exploration junior James Bay Minerals\u2019 share price is wading in decent double-digit gains so far today.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019d be because fieldwork has begun across numerous high-priority lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatite targets at the company\u2019s Joule property in Quebec, Canada, as it kicks off a 2024 summer field program.<\/p>\n<p>The program will see JBY explore a significant number of LCT and rare earths targets at Joule, while the company is also exploring partnerships to further acecelerate development across its Quebec properties.<\/p>\n<p>JBY\u2019s\u00a0La Grande project packages in particular, are very close to <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/winsome-resources-wr1\/\"><strong>Winsome Resources\u2019 (ASX:WR1)<\/strong><\/a> Cancet and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/patriot-battery-metals-pmt\/\"><strong>Patriot Battery Metals\u2019 (ASX:PMT)<\/strong><\/a> high-profile Corvette lithium projects.<\/p>\n<p>The Joule property itself spans 163km2 hectares along the Robert-Bourassa reservoir which features a prominent ~24km deformation zone running east to west, with deformation widths up to 1.5km in the northeastern part of the property.<\/p>\n<p>James Bay\u2019s executive director, Andrew Dornan said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn late 2023, despite having just a couple of months before snowfall, our fieldwork was directed towards the Aero Property, thanks to its convenient access directly off the Trans-Taiga highway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow that the Canadian winter has passed, we\u2019re shifting gears with our sights set on the exciting Joule Property.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rare earth targets identified through the radiometric surveys show significant promise, and the team is looking forward to delving deeper into these zones to unlock their full potential while also exploring the numerous priority lithium-pegmatite targets identified across the property.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more &gt; <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/james-bay-minerals-calls-in-techxperts-for-ree-and-lct-pegmatite-targets-at-joule\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\"><\/span><br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/metalsgrove-mining-mga\/\"><strong>MetalsGrove Mining (ASX:MGA)<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Another lithium-hunting junior, MGA has made another strong move today, which it\u2019s been doing a bit just lately.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s share-price bumping news centres around MGA\u2019s Zimbabwe lithium hunt.<\/p>\n<p>Mapping and sampling results are in from the company\u2019s initial exploration program, which have helped define several pegmatites (although caveated: \u201cwith less detailed geological observations\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>A total of 104 rock samples were collected, prepared, and submitted to a lab in South Africa \u2013 nine samples from the \u2018Beatrice\u2019\u00a0 target and 95 from the Arcturas region.<\/p>\n<p>The Arcturas region samples recorded lithium values at \u201ctrace levels or below detection limits\u201d, while the nine samples collected at Beatrice showed encouraging lithium grades, with values up to 1.44% Li2O.<\/p>\n<p>The company notes, though, that only one of those latter samples was collected within its tenements.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, MGA is planning further imminent exploration work on these projects.<\/p>\n<p>ICYMI: Zimbabwe <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Lithium?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Lithium<\/a> Projects \u2013 Mapping and Sampling Results Received from Initial Exploration Program<br \/>\n-Geological mapping consisted of defining several pegmatites although with less detailed geological observations.<br \/>\nMore: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ikZsYWFA6U\">https:\/\/t.co\/ikZsYWFA6U<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24MGA&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$MGA<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24MGA.ax&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$MGA.ax<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MgO1LZRitY\">pic.twitter.com\/MgO1LZRitY<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 MetalsGrove (@metalsgrove) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/metalsgrove\/status\/1797568914454372701?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 3, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/magnum-mining-mgu\/\"><strong>Magnum Mining (ASX:MGU)<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Iron ore and magnetite junior Magnum is a notable ASX ressie performer today after announcing some encouraging metallurgical test work.<\/p>\n<p>Those fresh results indicate a high grade 68.3% iron grade magnetite concentrate is readily achievable just through simple, low cost grinding at the company\u2019s Buena Vista iron project in Nevada.<\/p>\n<p>A crucial part of the testing, notes the company, is that the grinding has achieved the low silica and aluminium levels it was after \u2013 below 3%, which is a target needed to meet Direct Reduction Iron grade requirements.<\/p>\n<p>It means that industry standard grade of iron \u201cfines\u201d are achievable with the coarse grind size. And that\u2019s very much a win.<\/p>\n<p>What next? Flotation test work is underway with the aim of achieveing higher iron grades, and Magnum also says that a bulk magnetite concentrate will be produced for supply to key potential customers for their in-house testing.<\/p>\n<p>Source: MGU<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\"><\/span><br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/group-6-metals-g6m\/\"><strong>Group 6 Metals (ASX:G6M)<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Let\u2019s talk tungsten. And it\u2019s about time, too. It is the world\u2019s toughest metal after all, and it gets too much tough love. Probably.<\/p>\n<p>In any case, Group 6 Metals is right into this extremely hard, stupendously dense and fantastically heat-resistant stuff, with its focus lying on its 100%-owned Dolphin Tungsten Mine (DTM) project on King Island in Tasmania.<\/p>\n<p>The company has provided an update on operations at the site this morning.<\/p>\n<p><span>High grade ore from the C-lens (a form of geologic deposit) has now been exposed in the Dolphin open cut pit. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>And the company <\/span>notes that mining at the open pit has exceeded forecast volumes for ore tonnes and metric tonne units of WO3 (tungsten oxide) recovered up until the end of April, when compared to the geological model.<\/p>\n<p>This comes at a good time for tungsten in the global market, too, with the commodity strengthening on \u201cstrategic supply concerns\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Clarifying that further, G6M noted that \u201cthe past 6 weeks has seen an increase in the ammonium paratungstate (APT) CIF Rotterdam price of approximately 12%, with current prices quoted as U$335 \u2013 360 per mtu (10 kg of WO3). This is an unusual development in the tungsten market which points to tightening domestic supply in China and more activity by Chinese buyers in Western markets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChinese import of tungsten concentrates almost doubled in the first calendar quarter of 2024 and the expectation is that this trend will continue into the second half of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Regarding G6M\u2019s latest news, McKnight added:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past six months, our geology and mining teams have excelled at maximising ore recovery.
