It is currently paying $5.09 after a strong gain in Monday trade.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\"><\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/mineral-resources-min\/\"><strong>MinRes\u2019 (ASX:MIN)<\/strong><\/a> bid for WA lithium domination continues with a $7.5m purchase of 30% of the lithium rights at <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/galileo-mining-gal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Galileo Mining\u2019s (ASX:GAL)<\/strong><\/a> Norseman exploration project.<\/p>\n<p>MIN can sole fund $15m of expenditure over four years to increase its stake in the JV to 55%, and then boost that to 70% by sole funding through to decision to mine.<\/p>\n<p>There are no lithium resources on the project yet, but MIN must like what it sees.<\/p>\n<p>It ostensibly looks a great deal for nickel-copper hunter GAL, which retains control over all the other minerals on the property.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement is the latest in a series of WA land grabs by Ellison-led mining conglomerate MIN, which spent $840 million last year to build stakes across several junior lithium stocks and acquire the Bald Hill mine near Kambalda.<\/p>\n<p>This splurge on early stage lithium investments\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/minres-remains-bullish-on-lithium-and-it-could-take-a-host-of-wa-explorers-along-for-the-ride\/\"><strong>shows no signs of abating<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in 2024, with farm in\/JV deals already inked with \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/dynamic-metals-dym\/\"><strong>Dynamic Metals\u2019 (ASX:DYM),<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0as well as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/voltaic-strategic-resources-vsr\/\"><strong>Voltaic Strategic Resources (ASX:VSR)<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/reach-resources-rr1\/\"><strong>Reach Resources (ASX:RR1)<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(via MIN controlled\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/delta-lithium-dli\/\"><strong>Delta Lithium (ASX:DLI)<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"mce_SELRES_start\"><\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Government orders Chinese shareholders to sell Northern Mineral stakes.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers has told five Chinese shareholders to divest a total of 613,573,632 shares in rare earths stock <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/northern-minerals-ntu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northern Minerals (ASX:NTU)<\/a><\/strong> acquired late 2023.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s 10.4% of the entire issued stock to be sold within 60 days, according to the notice, which indicates a desire to keep local critical minerals out of China\u2019s grasp.<\/p>\n<p>By being ahead of the curve China has been able to establish a dominance in the rare earths sphere; it controls 65% of the world\u2019s mining, 85% of the processing, and 92% of its rare earth magnet production.<\/p>\n<p>Now the West, belatedly realising that minerals are critical when you don\u2019t control them, is moving to protect its assets.<\/p>\n<p>$200m capped NTU has been plugging away at its Browns Range rare earths project in the East Kimberley region of WA since late 2009.<\/p>\n<p>The focus for the company is on producing\u00a0dysprosium\u00a0and\u00a0terbium, which are critical to the manufacturing of permanent magnets used in things like electric vehicles and wind turbines.<\/p>\n<p>There were a few bumps in the road for NTU, but <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/resources\/argonaut-says-it-keeps-getting-harder-to-build-a-new-project-but-rates-these-11-developers-to-get-it-done\/\">Argonaut says Northern Minerals now has a lower risk development pathway<\/a><\/strong> having inked a partnership for Iluka Resources to process its xenotime ore at a new rare earths refinery at Eneabba in WA.<\/p>\n<p>That will avoid development costs and risks associated with a previous strategy to deliver a more expensive integrated mine and refinery for Browns Range.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><span
